Photos: International Pillow Fight Day, Paris 2013

Who doesn't like a pillow fight? Who hasn't played a pillow fight? Pillow fight. A sweet memory from our childhood. And probably even a spontaneous event in our adult life which transports us to our childhood. But imagine a day dedicated for pillow fight. How ridiculous can it get? That was my first reaction. Once I got over the initial reaction, the photographer in me woke up. The event provides a good way to spend time on the weekend and also for taking a few pictures.

There is a site dedicated for the Pillow Fight Day. It list all the cities where this is celebrated. This year, the event was held in Gare Saint-Lazare. The railway station had undergone a major make-over last year. Following which, all the temporary construction in front of the railway station was cleared up opening up a lot of space in the front matching the grandeur inside. There was also a Facebook event for Pillow fight. The rules were simple and listed in the event details.

The event started at 3 pm on 6th April. All the grown ups transformed into kids as soon as the whistle blew to mark the start of the event. It is something to be seen with your own eyes. The pillows came out. There were joyful screams everywhere. People were all over the place. That is when I understood how difficult it is for a photographer to shoot such an event. Dodging the pillows was easy. But to get a good shot was very difficult. I managed to click a lot of pictures. But there are only a few I found worthy of sharing.

    1. :) Actually, this did not happen in the street. It was in the open space in front of a railway station. So the traffic is not interrupted. Anyone can join in. The rules are there on their website. The people cleaned up after the event because they did not want to antagonize the authorities. That was the second amazing part of the event. The first was the grownups acting like kids. :)
